As a small fleet owner myself, I am deeply frustrated by the power that brokers have over carriers. Brokers squeeze us on rates, skim payments with deductions, and make it difficult to operate our businesses profitably.
OODCCO has the plan and ability to revolutionize the trucking industry. By (FIRST) uniting carriers and refusing to haul for brokers (all together), we can force shippers to pay us directly. With brokers removed, shippers can post their rate in an organic market.
With the successful cleansing of the industry carriers will only have to compete against carriers which is the natural and rightful trucking order. Most truckers believe tat this will create a race to the bottom nut we believe that the opposite will be true and for many reasons. I have personally lost bids with customers who chose brokers that then ask me to service the account. Spitefully we did but we added 75 cents per mile for the lack of consistency. Shippers too need an education. Trucks and truckers haul freight, not brokers.
I am particularly excited about our plan to use a portion of OODCCO's profits to build 30 acre parking lots for members. Our goal is to build 200,000 parking spaces 2 years with a goal of 750,000. This will take fighting with communities. Everyone wants what trucks bring but no-one wants the trucks around. It's time for the trucking industry to take care of itself. We are also looking forward to taking on abusive tow companies. Brokers and parking are two of the biggest challenges that carriers face today. You may also be interested to know that I have been fighting these for the past 10 years but together, we can annihilate them, and we will.
I am committed to OODCCO and the industry. I will not give up my trucking company. Running a trucking company is the best way to remain in tune to the issues that we all face. OODCCO is the only advocacy group that operates a trucking company. Together, we can create a better future for ourselves and for the trucking industry as a whole.
